Head of development management for the Pembroke-shire Coast National Park Authority, Cathy Milner, has written to Tenby Town Council to clarify matters with regard to a potential development of former Gatehouse Hotel site.

She has also expressed concern over the delay by the developers in submitting "acceptable and appropriate" plans for the scheme.

At Tuesday night's meeting of the town council, correspondence was received from Mrs. Milner regarding recent reports in the media that plans had been submitted for a multi-million pound scheme at the former Gatehouse Hotel and its surrounding area.

"I just wanted to confirm to members that, although a number of planning applications have been received in the office, they have not as yet been registered as valid and therefore are not yet public documents nor are they therefore being considered," she wrote, explaining that the planning proposals had failed to meet all requirements needed with regards to certain details and information.

"I am very disappointed that the submissions made so far are lacking in all requirements needed, despite officers having a number of meetings with the architects acting for the developers Dovey Estates and Mr. Graham Fry and making very clear what is expected.

"I can assure your members that as an authority, the National Park want to see these sites re-developed, subject of course to the submission of appropriate and acceptable schemes, and are very concerned at the delay that has and apparently still is occurring," added Mrs. Milner, who assured councillors that as soon as applications were complete and registered as valid, copies would be forwarded to the town council to comment on.

Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown said: "It's nice to see that Dovey Estates and Mr. Fry are actually talking to the National Park Authority, but for how long we shall see!"
