Last Friday saw the new year opening of the Parish Children's Centre. In this their 15th year of community service, they welcome everyone to visit, and to browse through the children's clothes and equipment that are on sale. The centre is open on Tuesdays from 11 am until 1 pm, and Fridays from 11 am - 2 pm. It can be found inside the Upper Frog Street entrance to St. Mary's Church House, down the stairs. "Please come along and feel free to discuss the centre with us," said Pam and Beth, who run the centre. "We value your comments and suggestions for enhancing the facilities we offer. "The centre was sponsored by the Parochial Church Council and stewards of St. Mary's Church 15 years ago, and they continue to support the service we offer to the community. "All ages are welcome and we thank everyone involved for their continued provision of clothes and children's equipment for 'recycling'. "Some visitors who venture down the steps to the centre tell us they wish there was such a facility in their home town, and make regular visits to us with lists of their requirements for friends and relatives! If a particular item is required that we do not have in the centre, we will endeavour to acquire it for you. We also have a colleague who crochets baby blankets for us, and proceeds from the sale of these are awarded to the Cystic Fibrosis Society. "Any funds we are able to generate are awarded to local branches of children's charities, and the children's ward at Withybush. These services are widely used by the families of Pembrokeshire and we are always happy to show anyone interested, where the funds are used. "Bring your children and friends for free refreshment and a break from the bustle of your day. We have a play area for toddlers and young children to enjoy whilst in the centre, and offer a variety of hot and cold drinks and biscuits free, for children and adults. "For those of you with babies, we provide nappies and a changing area, and two play pens for them to play in, in safety, whilst carers relax and take time out. "May we wish you all a happy and healthy year in 2008 and reiterate our welcome to you all," concluded Pam and Beth.
