Pembrokeshire's own Paralympian Jacob Thomas was in Tenby last week to open the new lift in Giltar View for the Harriet Davis Trust. Giltar View is one of four properties in Pembrokeshire, managed by the trust, for disabled children, adults and their families to have much needed respite holidays. "Installing the replacement lift has cost £15,000 which is a big sum for a small charity like ours" said development manager Elizabeth Sleight. "We are so grateful to all the local people who support us by fund-raising and donations and we thought it was important for everyone to see what we are spending the money on. We were so pleased that Jacob was able to officially open the lift and take the first ride in it." Following his Paralympic success, Boccia ace Jacob, has just been selected for the GB squad competing at the World Open in Portugal, in June. He was joined for the lift opening ceremony by John Thomas-Ferrand, Deputy Lieutenant for the area, and Rt. Rev. Dewi Bridges, Patron of the Harriet Davis Trust, along with trustees, staff, friends and family.
