Years 5 and 6 children from Pennar Community School, Pembroke Dock Community School and St. Mary's Roman Catholic schools recently performed plays they written themselves at a special performance at the Pater Hall. Local author and writer Dan Anthony was commissioned by the Pembroke Dock Bicentenary Group to work with the three schools to write a play about the history of Pembroke Dock, in this it's 200th anniversary year. After the performance to a a packed audience, Dan said: "The Complete And Utter History Of Pembroke Dock - was an incredible show. It was written by every nine-10-year-old in the town and developed by their classes in school. "On the day, the performers took the true stories of William Haggar's first-ever movie, the construction John Froyne's world-beating warship HMS Thunderer, Pembroke Dock's Suffragettes, the discovery of the dock in the first place and made them their own. We even had a soap opera from a real baker's shop set in they hayday of the town, 1905. "But that's not all, Year 5 students from Pembroke Dock Community School created their own time travel adventure - Meg and Mikey Travel Through Time Victorian children to McDonald's, children from today to the decks of HMS Wellington and finished with a fight at the futuristic Pembroke Dock Time Dock. "The children's work was astonishing, accomplished, hilarious, full of energy, informative and even quite moving - a must see. "I'd like to thank the teachers and children from Pennar School, St. Mary's School and Pembroke Dock Community School for all their hard work and effort - it was great fun. "The production showcased Pembroke Dock's tradition of invention and innovation and demonstrated that the town is still full of talent."
