The Pembrokeshire fundraising branch of Guide Dogs Cymru wish to say a huge thank you to Chris Caine, of Kilgetty, who raised the magnificent sum of £280 in sponsorship money when he recently took part in the Cardiff Half Marathon.

Chris, who lives in Kilgetty and is the 18-year-old son of Jonathan and Hayley Caine, of Frosts Hardware Store in Saundersfoot, is an apprentice with Keating’s Joinery of Narberth.

He chose Guide Dogs as the charity to benefit from his sponsorship because of his own black Labrador, Issie, who guide dog Oyster often meets when she takes her owner Eva Rich, into the shop.

Chris presented Eva with the sponsorship money and was proud to show Eva the medal he had received for completing his first half marathon in an excellent time.

Oyster said a huge thank you to Chris for raising money to help train more guide dogs like her who provide visually impaired people with mobility and independence in safety, and that thanks will be echoed by all the 16 working guide dogs in Pembrokeshire.

Money is always needed so that new and replacement guide dogs are available as and when required. Thanks Chris and well done.
