Overgrown trees in Tenby's South Parade are fast becoming a health and safety hazard, according to a local councillor. Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter believes it's high time that the trees were given a cut.
"Recently, a coach driver came into the town and was told to look out for the town walls on the left- hand side, but he didn't even see them as the trees were covering them up!" she told colleagues at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council. "The trees have become dangerous for pedestrians walking below and above the ground; surely it's time they were cut as it's not a safe place to walk at the moment," she added.
Clr. Mike Evans said that Pembrokeshire County Council had a rolling maintenance program in place and that pruning the trees would be a large job which would need to be assessed in the future. "It's too late to prune them now for this year, but it is work that needs to be done in the future on health and safety grounds," said Mayor, Clr. Trevor Hallett.
