Carew and District Cancer Research group held their Christmas and mince pie coffee morning recently, and thanks to the support of the community it was a great success.
The stalls were laden with cakes and Christmas gifts and soon sold out.
The popular raffle helped to swell the funds, with the grand total of £1,300 being raised for research.
Coffee morning raffle winners were: hamper, Beryl Marsh; fruit, Henry Adams; chocolates, Paula Ralph; voucher, Mandy; Christmas cake, Winnie Rees; whisky, Marlene Cole; plant, Paula Ralph; wine, June Mathias; wine, George and Thelma; album, Iris Terry; biscuits, Doreen Hughes; mugs and coffee, Gwyneth Jones; purse, Mrs. Merriman; mirror, Peggy Kobosic; mug tree, Gwyneth Jones.
The quilt raffle proved an outstanding success,. Tickets had been on sale since last June and made the grand total of £1,040.
Quilt prize winners were: double quilt, Wyn Jenkins; single quilt, Marie Brenchly; child's quilt, Mrs. Bowmond; pram quilt, Ruth Harries; dressed doll, Meyrick Brenchly; cushion, Sue Shaw; cushion, Mrs. Scourfield; cushion, Nin Thomas; fabric box, Pat Hubbard; fabric box, John Mason; quilt, Nicky Scourfield; pictures, Clair (Farm Shop); Galaxy, Bronwen Knox.
