Over 250 walkers participated in the first ever Preseli Walking Festival, which celebrated the stunning countryside of north Pembrokeshire in May. The festival linked other popular festivals happening in north Pembrokeshire taking place in May. Encompassing the Newport Bay Spring Festival, Maenclochog Festival, St. Dogmaels Arts Festival, the Crymych Drover's Festival and the Fishguard Folk Festival, in addition the walking festival offered the participants an opportunity to experience local culture and heritage of the area. There was a great choice of walks on offer including guided walks along historic sites, all day treks in the blue stone hills, gentle woodland strolls or walks exploring spring wildlife. The festival is organised by the North Pembrokeshire Tourism Group, with support from PLANED through the EU LEADER+ funded Festivals and Events project.    It is hoped that the festival will become a well established annual event attracting visitors to the Preseli area and bringing economic benefits to the rural communities in north Pembrokeshire out of season.
