Issues surrounding the future of Tenby's outdoor market are to be discussed next month. Speaking at Tuesday night's meeting of Tenby Town Council, the town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, told members that he had been in touch with Chamber of Trade chairman, Chris Osborne, over the matter, after a petition was recently handed to the council calling for the market, which is held in Tudor Square on Wednesdays, to cease trading. The petition, which featured 51 signatures, requested that the market, organised by the town's Chamber of Trade and supported by Pembrokeshire County Council, desisted immediately, as businesses in Tenby had concerns that it was having an adverse effect on their takings and causing disruption to the town centre. "Mr. Osborne said that the Chamber of Trade would discuss the matter first and then be willing to meet with the town council in October, as a few people involved with organising the market were on holiday this month," explained Mr. Davies.
