Whitland will play Llanrhian in the Final of the Ormond Youth Cup this Sunday at Carew.

Whitland have appeared in the final on two previous occasions in 1999 and 2000 and have won the Cup once in 1999 when they played Llangwm.

Llanrhian made their first appearance in the final in 2001 when they were runners up to Haverfordwest. Both teams have a number of talented players who have already made their mark at senior level.

All of the Whitland team play cricket at senior level. When Rhidian Harries is in the side it looks an outstanding side and even in his absence Whitland are a very good team.

Players such as all rounder Rhidian Harries, pace bowler Huw Devonald and wicket keeper Shane Morgan are regular first team players whilst spinner Edward John and all rounder Nick Davies have played a number of times for the first team this season.

Most of the Whitland team are all rounders capable of making a contribution with both bat and ball.

The Whitland squad for the final is - Edward John (captain), Huw Devonald (vice-captain), Rhys Bowen, Tom Edward, Dion Thomas, Nick Davies, Shane Morgan, Robert Merriman, Jonathan Davies, Owen Edwards, Rhidian Harries, Martin Thomas, Daniel Newton.

Wickets are pitched at 1 pm and admission is £4.00 for adults and £2.00 for children and OAPs. The umpires are Bob Flute, of Summerhill, and Robert Bellerby, of Neyland.
