The Pembrokeshire College Rugby Academy Open Evening will take place on Wednesday, June 3 at 6 pm. It's open to Year 11 and 12 students with a good or excellent ability of rugby who would like to progress whilst studying on a full-time college course.
Pembrokeshire College rugby coach, Kenny Davies, said: "Potential students and parents will have the opportunity to find out more about joining Pembrokeshire College's Rugby Academy where students receive first-class coaching and training whilst studying on any full-time college course."
The Pembrokeshire College's rugby academy was designated as a local Centre of Excellence by Llanelli Scarlets in 2005 for the development of 16-18 year old rugby players in the county.
The college's rugby academy is closely integrated with the Scarlets under-18 academy and college players are able to move into the Scarlets academy when they are ready. Successes include second-row Dominic Day and tight-head prop Simon Gardiner.
Commenting on how the college helped Dominic progress, he said: "The Rugby Academy helped me in many ways to make it as a professional player. Rugby is a power and strength game and the free-weights and gym work got me in perfect condition. This was complemented by good training sessions and playing against strong opposition."
