THEY will have toured all over Great Britain, the Channel Islands and even to the ancient amphitheatres of Cyprus, but on Sunday, August 7, The Lord Chamberlain's Men will arrive at Pembroke Castle with a spectacular open air production of one of the Bard's greatest plays 'Macbeth'. The Lord Chamberlain's Men - Britain's most prestigious open air theatre company - present Macbeth, Shakespeare's most exciting, powerful and succinct tragedy. Performed, in true Shakespearean style, with an all-male cast, this will be the must-see theatrical event of the summer. Macbeth is Shakespeare's ultimate thriller: a play about murder, power and corruption. A young military man has ambitions of leadership, and spurred on by his determined wife is driven to extreme means to get to the top. With an all-male cast we can think again about this most famous of power-hungry couples, and maybe for the first time in 350 years audiences will be able to see a 'male' Lady Macbeth. Named after Shakespeare's own theatrical troupe, The Lord Chamberlain's Men attempt to recreate the world of Shakespearean theatre as accurately as possible. However, to keep up to date, the company will be led by Lucy Pitman-Wallace, one of Britain's leading woman directors. Her acclaimed West End production of Eastward Ho! for the Royal Shakespeare Company formed part of the Jacobean Season which won the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement of the Year, 2002. The production will include historically relevant costume, music, dance and stage-fight, to fire the imaginations of young and old alike. And if you arrive early, you will even be able to see the actors applying their make-up, and getting into costume, or listen to our wandering minstrels. Book now for a theatrical experience you can't afford to miss. The performance at Pembroke Castle will be given at 7.30 pm and tickets are, adults £10, children £7.50. Box Office number is 01646 681510.
