CYCLISTS are being offered a unique opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the West Coast of Ireland - and, at the same time, to help cancer patients in West Wales.
The charity Marie Curie Cancer Care will be holding its fourth Malin to Mizen Irish Cycle Challenge in September and keen cyclists are being urged to sign up for what promises to be the experience of a lifetime.
The route traverses the entire length of Ireland from its most northerly to its most southerly point and with an average of 70 miles a day to be covered, the eight-day expedition is not for the faint-hearted.
But, on the plus side, there is the chance to enjoy some of Europe's finest scenery, make new friends and have the satisfaction of helping fund world renowned research into prevention, cure and palliative care for cancer patients.
Participants, who must be over 18, have a doctor's permission to take part and provide their own bike, are asked to raise at least £1,350 sponsorship and to pay a registration fee of £175. They will receive advice on pre-event training and fund-raising, and insurance, travel and accommodation within Ireland are provided.
