Readers may recall that a few years back, local photographer Wally Rainbow produced a book about Whitland Dairies.
Little did he know at the time that it would prove so popular and, although only available locally in the town, it quickly sold out.
Now Wally, of Cwmfelinboeth, is back with his second book, this time about his time spent on Christmas Island nearly 60 years ago.
Wally says: “In 1958, as part of my National Service with the Royal Air Force, I was stationed as a photographer on Christmas Island, a Pacific atoll island used by Britain for its rapid development of the H-Bomb.

“The photographs in the album tell the story of my time spent on the island which I have included in this book along with a few explanatory notes.”
A fascinating read, which also contains many photographs and cuttings, the book would be a great addition to anyone’s bookshelf and is available by telephoning Wally on 01994 240495.
