Last Sunday, Oliver Cromwell again passed through the historic town, albeit in more peaceful circumstances!
On this occasion, Oliver Cromwell hauled a train carrying a full load of steam enthusiasts from Bristol Temple Meads to Pembroke Dock along the route of the Pembroke Coast Express.
Young and old lined vantage points along the route to catch a glimpse of the magnificent preserved steam locomotive as it steamed through the Pembrokeshire countryside on its return journey.
The Britannia class, Pacific No 70013 locomotive, was built in 1951 at Crewe and was used to haul express trains between London and Norwich.
With the introduction of diesel locomotives in 1968, Oliver Cromwell made history by hauling the very last steam train for British Rail.
