Texaco has sponsored the local branch of St. John Ambulance for many years and this year has been no exception.

In conjunction with the Western Telegraph's campaign to 'Keep St. John on the road', Texaco were pleased to donate £1,500 to the appeal fund.

Also, last November, Texaco employees collected £460 at one of their marquee events. These donations have been a wonderful boost to St. John.

During the last 10 years, Texaco has made substantial donations to St. John Ambulance, totalling £10,000. These were company donations and proceeds from charity concerts staged by Texaco. Also in previous years Texaco has donated 'two second-hand' ambulances.

The St. John Ambulance attend many community events throughout the calendar year and without St. John many events are at risk, as legislation states first aid cover must be in attendance.

Divisional Officer in Charge Phil Deacon said: "Without the help of Texaco, charities like ours would find it difficult to continue in the community. St. John Ambulance is a voluntary organisation and we do not receive any financial help and have to raise all our own funds. We thank Texaco very much for their continued support and in particular for this latest donation."
