Oh what a night it was in the Buccaneer pub on Friday, March 1.

The fundraising committee for the Urdd Eisteddfod Sir Benfro were on a roll from last year's event which had been a great success - and this year's was even better!

More than 85 people packed themselves into the Bucc and enjoyed a wonderful Welsh atmosphere, with cawl being served, Welsh cakes for pudding and local talent providing the entertainment.

Everyone enjoyed a bowl of Doug's famous cawl with a great chunk of cheese and bread, followed by Mrs. Andrasko's wonderful Welsh cakes.

Mr. Ross Llewellyn was compere for the evening and managed to keep a tight rein and made sure that everyone behaved!

Miss Fffion Phillips entertained the troops with a selection of English and Welsh songs, with everyone joining in when they knew the words!

Mr. Martin Llewellyn then took charge of the keyboard and played a lot of Welsh favourites - Delilah, Bread of Heaven, Ar Lan y Mor, Sosban Fach.

Some local children also took part - Olwen sang 'Lleucu Llwyd', Rhiannon played the trombone and Ieuan and Geraint played trombone and trumpet.

The resounding rendition of Hen Wlad fy Nhadau rounded off the evening, which opened the floodgates for Ross Llewellyn and Nick Thomas to grab their guitars and carry on singing!

It was a great evening which raised £762 for the eisteddfod, which was matched £1 for £1 by Barclays.

The committee are carrying on with their fundraising efforts tonight (Friday, March 22) with a twmpath at New Hedges Village Hall at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £7.50 for adults and £3 for children. A hog roast is included in this and you can bring your own drinks! Barclays are match-funding again, so the more the merrier! Get your dancing shoes on and come have a great evening.
