Oh, what a grey day! Friday dawned particularly drab, dull and dreary, with a near gale force wind blowing to boot! And with the weather forecasters promising 'predominantly heavy rain' throughout the day, some Chicken Trotters decided that the best option was to keep their feathers dry and snuggle back down in the nest. How foolish can you get. Don't they know by now that the forecasters can never seem to get it right for our own little corner of the world. And so it proved on Friday morning, as the 11 chicks who were brave enough to venture from the comfort of the coop were rewarded with dry, if somewhat testing conditions. And for some the rewards were greater than for others. Notably Spike Evans, who led the field home with a well constructed round of 28 pts... six better than the par for the day. His efforts saw him pocket the princely sum of £1.45, while also earning himself some big money, well £1 actually, was a delighted Richard Morgan, who returned to the hutch as runner-up on 26 pts. With no twos recorded, the only other to peck up some corn was past club captain Malcolm Arlott, whose 16 points saw him collect the booby prize (30p entry fee returned). More fun with the Chicken Trotters this (Friday) morning... weather permitting. But don't believe the forecasters!
