The Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, will be presenting 'Oh, Hello!', the story of 'Carry On' star Charles Hawtrey, on Saturday, February 21, at 7.30 pm.

Written and performed by Dave Ainsworth (above), it is directed by Peter Doran.

Charles Hawtrey was born George Frederick Joffre Hartree in 1914, in Hounslow, Middlesex. He became a regular of the 'Carry On' series after a successful career on stage and in radio.

This eccentric and underrated comedian felt that his status deserved a higher billing in the films. His fall-outs with 'Carry On' producer Peter Rogers over billing finally resulted in his walk-out in 1972.

Hawtrey ended his days in Deal, an alcoholic recluse.

Dave Ainsworth studied drama at King Alfred's College, Winchester. He was a stand-up comedian for five years and has shared bills with Paul Merton, Jack Dee and Jo Brand.

In 1999, his first comic novel, 'Silly Mid Off' was published.

Tickets, priced £7.50 (£6 discount), are available from the box office on 01646 695267.
