After reading a fund-raising appeal from Pembrokeshire's only hospice in last week's Observer, a running enthusiast has decided to put her best foot forward for the charity.

Forty-two-year-old Pauline Charlett, a member of the Pembrokeshire Harriers running club, will be raising funds for the 2004 Paul Sartori Hospice Appeal when she pounds the streets of London by taking part in the city's annual marathon.

"I already had a place in the marathon through the running club, but did not know what charity to run for," she told the Observer this week.

"But, after reading the charity's appeal in last week's issue, I decided to run for the Paul Sartori Foundation, as all the money I raise will be used locally."

A keen runner, Pauline took part in a marathon around Lake Vyrnwy in Mid Wales last year, while her husband, Gwyn, took part in the London Marathon.

Pauline, an accounts clerk with the Alexander Partnership, is now in training for the 26-mile event, which takes place on Sunday, April 18.

Pauline, of St. Michael's Road, Pembroke, is also busy collecting sponsorship, and anyone who would like to sponsor her can contact her on 01646 681672.
