MR. G. DAVIES

SAUNDERSFOOT

As reported previously, the death occurred peacefully at Brooklands Nursing Home, on November 4, of Mr. Gavin Davies, of Bonvilles Close, Saundersfoot.

Aged 68, Gavin was a native of Pontypridd. After serving his five-year apprenticeship with a Pontypridd heating company, he qualified with a Welsh Joint National Certificate, City and Guilds in Plumbing.

His working life in Pembrokeshire included working on gas and oil central heating installations and factory maintenance. He also worked for Preseli District Council as a maintenance plumber and as a Grade 1 pipe-fitter in local oil refineries, before becoming a self-employed Corgi-registered plumber, diversifying into house maintenance and improvements.

Away from his work, among his main interests were wood-carving, cooking, photography and walking. He was also very proud of his achievement of building three of his own houses.

As well as his wife, Mrs. Margaret E. Davies, family left to mourn are three sons Stuart, Matthew and Rhys, daughter-in-law Rachel, grandchildren Aelwen, Ffion and George, and sister Lorraine.

A strictly private funeral service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth.

MR. R. S. YATES

KILGETTY

As reported previously, the death occurred peacefully at home on Monday, November 7, of Mr. Richard Stuart Yates, of Ryelands Lane, Kilgetty.

Aged 55, he was a native of Cosheston, being educated at Cosheston VC School and Pembroke Comprehensive.

Richard started work at Poyerston Farm, Nash, Pembroke, for John Davies, of Sandy Haven Farm, Milford Haven, followed by a short time as a driver on a Social Services minibus for the elderly and disabled.

Richard also worked for agricultural contractors, Rees Bros., St. Florence, for several years, before gaining his HGV licence and driving petrol tankers for Texaco, Shell, Elf, Tesco and then Texaco again, until ill health forced his early retirement in February 2015.

Richard loved his family, especially his three grandchildren, while among his main interests were watching films and sport, especially rugby, football, American football and FI, kit modelling lorries and tankers and visiting ‘Truck Fests’ etc.

Predeceased by his son Philip in August 2015, family left to mourn are wife Alison, daughters Michelle and Diana, sons-in-law Nigel and Ashley, grandchildren Rachel, Nathan, Ffion, sisters Lorraine and Debbie, brother-in-law David, nephews and nieces Joe, Jemma, Jade, Zoe and Ben, and Auntie Jo - Canada.

The funeral took place at St. Michaels Church, Cosheston, on Saturday, November 19.

Officiating at the service was Rev. Carolyn Wood, while bearers were Pat Fulton, Peter Roberts, Anthony Watkins, Teifion Smith, Joe Buckle and Ben Pannell.

PEMBROKE DOCK

As reported previously, the death occurred peacefully at Withybush Hospital, on Tuesday, November 1, of Mr. Mark Bentley, affectionately known as Sparky, of Laws Street, Pembroke Dock.

Aged 43, Mark was a keen fisherman, great lover of wildlife, and a good all round sportsman during his youth.

Family left to mourn are parents, David and Patsy; brothers and sister, David, Anthony and Amanda, son Jaxon, and all of his extended family and friends.

The funeral service was held on Monday, November 14, at St. Johns Church, Pembroke Dock, and was followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth.

Officiating was the Rev. Marina Evans, while bearers were Anthony Bentley, Adam Bentley, Wayne Jones and Henry Jones.

The death occurred peacefully at Withybush Hospital on Sunday, November 20, of Mr. David Rowlands, aged 93 years, of Scandinavia Heights, Saundersfoot.

Devoted husband of the late Valerie. Dearly-loved dad of Alan, Simon and Jo. Respected father-in-law to Joy and Gerald. Cherished grandpa and great-grandpa. Much-loved uncle to Ann and Steven.

The death occurred peacefully yesterday (Thursday) at Bush House, Pembroke, of Sheila Evans (nee Ebsworth), of Heathfield, Pentlepoir, Saundersfoot.

As reported last week, the death occurred on Wednesday, November 9, at his home in Windsor Terrace, The Ridgeway, Saundersfoot, of Mr. Charlie Richards. He was aged 87.

Charlie was predeceased only in September by his wife Grace and will be sadly missed by his son Clive, daughter-in-law Marie and all the family and many friends.
