St. Florence

Mr. Brian Thomas, of Carswell Farm, St. Florence, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday.

Dearest husband of Betty, he was proud father to Elizabeth and David and son-in-law Derek, and much-loved grandpa of Jennifer and Alistair.

The funeral service will take place at St. Florence Church today (Friday) at 11 am, prior to interment in the church cemetery.

There will be family flowers only, with donations in lieu, if so desired, for The Chemotherapy Day Unit, Withybush Hospital, and Saundersfoot District Nurses Trust Fund, c/o E. C. Thomas and Son, funeral directors, Archways, Green Plains, Stepaside, who are conducting the funeral arrangements.

Tenby

The death occurred on Monday, November 10, at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, of Dr. Elizabeth Ann Ross, of Richmond House, The Croft, Tenby.

Aged 71, she is survived by her husband John, son and daughter David and Alexandra, grandchildren Henry, Alexander, Madeleine and Charlotte, and brother Christopher.

The funeral takes place today (Friday), with a service at St. Mary's Church, Tenby, at 2 pm. There is a request for family flowers only.

MRS. C. THOMAS

TAVERNSPITE

The funeral took place recently at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, of Mrs. Christine Thomas, of Mayfield, Tavernspite, Whitland, who passed away at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on October 16. She was 55.

A native of Glyncorrwg, Christine spent most of her working life as a housewife. She enjoyed walking, gardening, going on holidays and spending money. She was a member of bowling clubs in Tavernspite, Heatherton and Carmarthen.

She is survived by her husband Mr. Everill Thomas, sister Pam Williams and brother Clifford Casey.

The funeral service took place at Parc Gwyn Crematorium on October 24, with Chancellor Morris, of Lampeter Velfrey, officiating.

Bearers were Graham Thomas, Terry Brace and Paul Hay.

Principal mourners were Everill Thomas (husband), Ian Thomas (son), Michael Thomas (son), Sandra Thomas (daughter), Lewis (grandson) and Cerys (granddaughter).

Floral tributes came from the immediate family and from the Braces.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Ward 10, Withybush Hospital, c/o Mr. E. Thomas, Mayfield, Tavernspite, Whitland.

MR. W. A. JAMES

PEMBROKE DOCK

(formerly of Milton)

The funeral took place recently of Mr. William Arthur James, of Davrie, Wilton Terrace, Pembroke Dock, who passed away peacefully at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on October 25, after a prolonged stay of several weeks.

Aged 85 and a native of Tonypandy, Rhondda Valley, Arthur was formerly of Milton Farm, Milton, near Tenby.

Arthur spent most of his working life in farming, having been brought up on the family farm at Loveston, Cresselly and later at Broadmoor, Pennar and Milton.

He was also well known in farming circles, having worked for many years throughout Pembrokeshire for his sister and brother-in-law at the well-known agricultural contractor, B. Merriman and Son, of Sageston.

After retiring from farming in 1976, he joined the family coal business and later had various other interests.

Arthur never retired, as he put it, he changed what he was doing from time to time. Although farming was a reserved industry, he served locally in the Home Guard during the Second World War.

He was a keen gardener and enjoyed travelling abroad when he had more time. Arthur attended chapel regularly all his life and worshipped at Trinity and Bethany until his death.

Predeceased by his wife Violet in April of 2005, he is survived by Clive and Carol James (son and daughter-in-law), Peter James (son-in-law), Hayley James (granddaughter), Sophie and Luke (granddaughter and partner), Glyn James-Boyd (brother).

The funeral service at Bethany Chapel, Pembroke Dock, followed by interment at Llanion Cemetery, was conducted by Rev. Roger Hart.

Bearers were Messrs. Ian Brazendale, Tony Wilcox, Alan Ircha and Johnny Oak.

Principal mourners included Mrs. Cissy James (sister-in-law), Mrs. Joyce Perks (sister-in-law), Mr. Jeff Lewis (brother-in-law), Mrs. Iris May (sister-in-law), along with many cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and neighbours too numerous to mention.

There were family flowers only, with donations in lieu, if so desired, for The Ruth James Trust Fund (a fund for the treatment of patients with kidney failure based at Withybush Hospital), c/o Mr. Graham Thomas, 34 Charles Thomas Avenue, Pembroke Dock.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by E. C. Thomas and Son, 31 Stockwell Road, Pembroke Dock.

MRS. E. E. M. WATKINS

TENBY

The death occurred peacefully at Belmont Court Nursing Home, Tenby, on Sunday, of Mrs. Ethel Elizabeth Maureen Watkins, formerly of The Glebe, Tenby.

Aged 92, she was predeceased by her husband Ken and children Peter, Anthony and Jillian, but is survived by her children Raymond, Roger, Philip, Elizabeth and Simon.

The funeral takes place on Monday, November 24, when a service at St. Mary's Church, Tenby, at 2 pm, will be followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth, at 3.15 pm.

The death occurred suddenly at his home, on Wednesday, November 12, of Mr. Eric Norman Harries-Brown, of Plas, Ciffig, Whitland.

Beloved husband of Jean, he was also the devoted father of Rosemary, respected father-in-law of Alan and loving grandpa of James, Jessica and Simon.

Having been resting at The Wern Chapel of Rest, Bro Waldo, Clunderwen, the funeral takes place today (Friday), when a public service at St. Mary's Church, Whitland, at 11.45 am, will be followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn, Narberth, at 1 pm.

Hodgeston

The death occurred peacefully at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on Wednesday, November 12, of Mrs. Mary Phillips, aged 87, of Rock Lea, Hodgeston.

Sadly missed by family and friends.

The funeral service will take place today (Friday) at St. Mary's RC Church, Pembroke Dock, at 2.30 pm, prior to interment at Llanion Cemetery.

The death occurred peacefully at Withybush Hospital, on Saturday, of Mr. Frank John (Frankie) Skyrme.

Aged 60 and affectionately known to all as Frankie, he was formerly of Warwick House, The Norton, Tenby.

Frankie is survived by his partner Sue, mother Irene, brothers and sisters-in-law David and Sylvia, Mike and Sue, Tony and Gill; sister and partner Yvonne and Kevin and other family too numerous to mention.

A service of celebration will take place on Monday, November 24, at St. Mary's Church, Tenby, at 11 am, followed by a private family cremation service.
