The funeral recently took place of Mr. Frederick Clutterbuck of Rushy Lake, Saundersfoot who passed away on March 23 at South Pembrokeshire Hospital, Pembroke Dock aged 93.
Affectionately known as ‘Fred’ by his family and friends he was a native of Rodborough, Gloucester.
Fred was a design engineer and started his working life as a design draughtsman at Walters Engineers, Stroud.
He then went on to work as head designer for Lee Howells from 1957 -1970 and travelled to Chicago carrying out work for the company during his time there.
Following on from this Fred became an Engineering Lecturer at Dudley Tech College, and lectured on advanced mathematics at Wolverhampton College before moving to Pembrokeshire in 1970 as a training engineer at Pembroke Power Station for which he is fondly remembered locally.
Fred was a member of the vintage motorcycle club for over 50 years doing well at rallies with his 1934 AJS and won trophy’s and cups competing in Scotland, Wales and England.
Fred was also a Rugby referee for the Rugby Union for over 25 years with the Gloucester and Midland societies.
He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 64 years Bernice; David and Jo, Jeremy and Sian (sons and daughter-in-laws); Gemma, Rhys, Rhiann (grandchildren)
A private funeral service took place at St. Issell’s Church, Saundersfoot on Wednesday, April 10 followed by Interment at St. Issell’s Cemetery.
The service was taken by Father. Paul Boyle and assisted by Revd. Bob Lewis who was a friend of Fred.
There were family flowers only with donations in lieu, if so desired, for The Donkey Sanctuary may be sent c/o E.C. Thomas and Son, Zoar Chapel Funeral Home, Llanteg and 21, Main Street, Pembroke, who carried out the funeral arrangements.
TONY PULLEN, STEPASIDE
The funeral recently took place of Tony Pullen, of Stepaside, who tragically had a fatal motor-bike accident in Kilgetty, aged 68.
Tony was an experienced rider, being registered as a Nationally Approved Motorcycle Instructor and was for many years, an ardent supporter of the Carmarthen and District Motorcycle Club, participating with their fundraising for the Wales Air Ambulance. He was also involved with the local beating and clay-pigeon fraternity, along with his late father: the pair being well-known for their competitive banter!
Originally from Byfleet in Surrey, Tony taught Design and Craft Technology in Leicestershire for 12 years following his training at Carmarthen Teacher Training College in the 1970s. He continued his teaching career after returning to the Pembrokeshire area in 1986, until a change of direction by gaining a Master’s degree, enabled him to spend many years in various aspects of Social Work before retiring.
Tony leaves his wife, Jo; sister Chris; children Jim, Sam and Liz; and seven grandchildren.
The family wish to express their sincere gratitude to the local community and emergency services at the time of the accident.
Particular appreciation is given to E. C. Thomas & Son for their thoughtful and compassionate support, and to Mike Ashbridge for conducting a funeral Tony would have been proud of.

MRS. N. NICHOLAS
NARBERTH
The funeral took place recently of Mrs. Noela Nicholas, of Station Road, Narberth, who passed away at home on March 19. She was 86.
A native of Lampeter Velfrey Parish, born at Cilcombe, Noela started work at a local farm, the Three Wells, Tavernspite.
She met her late husband Glyndwr and married in 1957, and was a cleaner at East Gate Clinic, before transfer to be a cleaner for Pembrokeshire Health Authority at Narberth Health Centre from 1972 until her retirement at 75 years old.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing and knitting, bird watching, garden flowers, sport and kept koi carp fish.
Noela was married for over 60 years to the late Glyndwr.
She leaves to mourn: Gareth and Sue (son and daughter-in-law); Diane and Stephen Lawton (daughter and son-in-law);Geraint and Ceri Nicholas, Hayley and Emily Lawton (grandchildren); Margaret Hughes and Ruth Bevan (sisters).
The service led by Mr. Stewart Treharne took place at Zoar Chapel Funeral Home, Llanteg on April 5, where Geraint Nicholas, Richard Morgan, Zane Thorne, Stephen Lawton were bearers, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, where Dr. Geraint Rees, Reggie Bevan, Roy Bevan, and Geraint Nicholas were bearers.
There were family flowers only, of a beautiful creation by next Door Florist, Narberth of ‘Nick the dog’, with donations, if so desired, for Paul Sartori Foundation c/o E.C. Thomas and Son, Funeral Directors, Zoar Chapel Funeral Home, Llanteg, Narberth. and 21, Main Street, Pembroke, who conducted the funeral arrangements.
