A requiem mass was held at St. Teilo’s Catholic Church, on June 1, to celebrate the life of William (Billy) Russell of Tenby who passed away at Glangwili Hospital on May 22.

Mass was celebrated by Father Owen McGreal and Father Michael Fewell.

Many family and friends and parishioners joined in the celebration.

Bearers were Paul and William Russell (son and grandson), Pat and Nicky Rees (brother and nephew).

Bill was born on a sunny morning, May 13, 1930, at 16 St. Domingo, Tenby. He started school from there, only having to hop over the wall to get there.

Bill spent time away doing his National Service stationed in Austria, a brief time in Canada where he had plans for he and his new wife, Burney, to emigrate, but it was not to be, then he and the family, two children by now, Melinda and Paul, spent six years in The Bahamas where he worked in the oil industry, but he always had the intention of returning to his beloved Tenby which he did in the ’70s, happy to be home bringing up his family and enjoying all that Tenby has to offer. He will be so missed by his family and friends who loved him dearly.

Mrs. M. M. Griffiths

Tenby

The funeral took place recently of Mrs. Millicent (Milly) Mary Griffiths, of Upper Hill Park, Tenby.

Aged 98, she passed away on May 27 at The Meadows Nursing Home, Johnston.

A native of Begelly, prior to WW2 Milly trained as a shorthand typist and worked as an accounts clerk for the West Cambrian Electric company in Tenby. In 1943, Milly joined the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) and served until after the war ended. Milly married in 1946 and became a housewife and mother.

Milly enjoyed walking, attending art classes, coach holidays around Europe and walking her grandson’s dog.

She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) George Griffiths in 1987.

Family left to mourn: Sandra Powell (daughter), Michael Griffiths (son), Jeff Powell (son-in-law), Sheena Griffiths (daughter-in-law), David Stubbs, Steven Stubbs, Victoria Wood, Lawrence Griffiths (grandchildren), also five great-grandchildren.

The funeral service took place on June 13 at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth. Rev. Shirley Rayner officiated.

Mr. David Eric Stillwell

East Williamston

Sadly, David Stillwell, of Church Farmhouse, East Williamston (formerly of Mossley Hill, Liverpool) passed away at the family home on Tuesday, June 5, in the company of his wife Bonnie and two sons Rob and Chris. David was aged 70.

Growing up in Liverpool, David joined the merchant navy as a teenager, travelling the world as a third mate navigating officer for the Cunard Brocklebank Line. While on one of his many trips to New York, he met his future wife Bonnie. After marrying in Long Island, New York, in 1970, David and Bonnie settled in Liverpool before moving to West Wales in 1981 followed in subsequent years by the births of their sons Rob and Chris.

David and Bonnie worked alongside one another, running a successful family business, All Seasons Fabrics (Kilgetty), for 27 years before retiring in 2015. Though David swapped the merchant navy for curtains and fabrics, he never lost his love of the sea spending his later years collecting researching and auctioning maritime antiques as a hobby.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, David will be greatly missed by his family, wife Bonnie, sons Rob, Chris, Rob’s partner Clare, daughter-in-law Teresa and grandchildren William and Carrie.

A private family service took place on Thursday, June 14, at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth.

Mr. G. Y. Frame

Narberth

The cremation took place recently at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, of Mr. Gordon Yule Frame.

Gordon passed away at Withybush Hospital on June 2, aged 67, and was a resident of Williams Court, Narberth.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by funeral directors, Messrs. W. and M. J. Rossiter and Sons Ltd., Landsker House, 21 Station Road, Narberth.

Mrs. G. M. Richmond

Pembroke Dock

The funeral took place recently of Mrs. Gwynneth May Richmond, of Gwyther Street, Pembroke Dock.

Aged 91, she passed away on May 11 at home.

A native of Pembroke Dock, Gwynneth worked as an Accounts clerk for W. L. Silcox & Sons until her retirement.

Her main interests were golf, flower arranging, knitting, collecting trinkets and home cooking.

She was predeceased by her husband David S. Richmond.

Family left to mourn: David and Suzanne (son and partner), Fliss (granddaughter).

The funeral took place at Bethel Chapel, Pembroke Dock, followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, on May 31. Rev. Michael Bave officiated.

Bearers were Daniel, Stewart, Dorian and George.
