MRS. JEAN HOOPER
SAUNDERSFOOT
Jean died peacefully at Pencoed Residential Care Home on 16th April, soon after her 104th birthday.
She had led such a full life, surviving two World Wars whilst living in London, moving to Beckenham, on the outskirts after marrying Wally in 1945 and having Hazel, her only child, in 1947. On retirement in the early 80’s, they moved to Norfolk to be by The Broads, where they had loved their sailing holidays. When Wally became ill, they moved to Saundersfoot in 1997 to be near Hazel and Jean took an active part in local activities, including the WI and adult education classes in French, German and cardmaking. She adored travelling with Tippett’s Tours.
So many will grieve the passing of this sunny lady, including the care professionals without whose help Jean could not have continued to live at home for so long. Our heartfelt thanks to the Tenby Day Centre staff and friends who inspired her to keep going, to the carers from Care in Hand whose help made her stay at home possible, to Pencoed Residential Care Home who treated her with so much love and tenderness in her last few weeks, and also the Saundersfoot Doctors and District nurses who were always there when needed.
The funeral service takes place at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, on Thursday 4th May at 11.30. and we would appreciate it if mourners avoided black.
