Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust has been named as one of the top 100 best organisations for nurses to work for the second consecutive year in a UK-wide survey of healthcare organisations. The Nursing Times Top 100 survey canvasses nursing employees across the Trust to determine what they think about the organisation. The survey covers a range of employment practice including training and development, family friendliness, flexible working, equality and diversity and listening to employees. The Trust was also named as one of the top 100 UK organisations for nurses to work for in 2007 Said the editor of Nursing Times, Rachel Downey: "This is a tremendous achievement which reflects extremely well on your employment practices and as a reflection of how your employees feel about their place of work. We had a huge number of entries from both the NHS and the independent sector and you can be justly proud to be included in the Top 100." A large number of private sector, charitable organisations, care homes and armed forces services, as well as NHS organisations, entered the Top 100 awards which questioned both employers and nursing employees within each organisation. Said acting chief executive, Caroline Oakley: "We are extremely pleased to be ranked amongst the top 100 organisations in the UK for nurses and believe this award reflects the level of commitment we have to ensuring our nurses enjoy the very best employment conditions and practices. As a Trust, we are proud of our workforce. "Entering these awards has been a positive experience for us all, giving nurses in hectic work schedules the opportunity to consider their roles and working environment and the Trust a chance to learn lessons and make improvements based on staff feedback. Being ranked in the Top 100 is a valuable acknowledgement of the high level of professional nursing involvement across the Trust and the fact that the results are based on staff votes gives it real credibility. We hope that it will help us to attract even more good nurses in the future."
