A pair of nursery staff spent more than half a day riding non-stop on the Megafobia rollercoaster at Oakwood Theme Park this week to help support a baby charity.

Kelly Ward, from the Princess of Wales Day Nursery, Bridgend, and Jade Osborn, nursery manager at Singleton Day Nursery, Swansea, took on the epic rideathon challenge to raise funds for the special care baby unit in Singleton and Carmarthen.

The couple were supported by colleagues Anne Stokes from Carmarthen Glangwilli Day Nursery and Steph Woods from School House Day Care, the company which runs the nurseries.

“Our charity ride at Oakwood was fabulous! We couldn’t have asked for more professional or friendlier staff and everyone was amazing!” said Jade.

“The day went really well raising money for the special care baby unit for Singleton and Carmarthen hospital. Schoolhouse Day Care picks a charity every year to raise money for and we would like to thank Oakwood for making it possible this year.

“It was most definitely the longest ride of our lives after six hours on Megafobia although it was all for a good cause! Even if we were a bit shaky afterwards!” she added.

Famed as one of the wildest wooden coasters on the planet, Megafobia has been voted the best ride in the UK and the third best ride in the world by coaster enthusiasts from the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain.

With a top speed in excess of 75 kph and 25 metre drops towards a lake combined with unique crossovers, this twister has attained legendary status among coaster fans worldwide.
