Following concerns over anti-social behaviour problems at Narberth Castle which were recently raised by town councillors, the town's police sergeant has informed members that over the Easter period, the site was extensively patrolled, but there was nothing to report. "This castle will now not be specifically targeted for police visits, but visits will be conducted as part of a routine patrol," said Sergeant Andy King. "To combat underage alcohol abuse, the area behind the Queen's Hall and The Angel public house was also regularly patrolled, along with pub and off-licence visits in the High Street. Again, no incidents of concern were seen or reported to us," he continued. "One incident which does stand out above others, dealt with by Narberth officers, was a nasty assault outside the Farmer's Arms. However, due to the stringent CCTV requirements set by police, the pub's CCTV has provided evidence and justice is currently being pursued," added the officer. Arrests were also made by Narberth officers for drink/drive offences, public order and lesser assaults, while a serious road traffic collision was dealt with on the busy A40 and public order assistance was given at Tenby and also at Fishguard Port." Two arrests had also been made for a burglary committed in the town.
