Sir, Having observed the recent promotional leaflet issued on behalf of the newly set-up De Valence Trust, I can only assume that the Trust believe that Tenby as a family resort is now dead, and are now attempting to attract the type of visitor local residents have been resisting for years. Their actions certainly imply they are about to drive the stake through the heart of traditional family holidays. The disgraceful literature put out by this organisation defies belief. It invites to Tenby such discerning reprobates that they feel need the following guidance. They are invited by issuing flyers, which a 12-year-old could easily discern. Translated they say: 'Are you a Tenby porn star?' Turning over, they promise Stella Lager two bottles for the price of one, £5, and a licence from 7.30 pm to 2 am. What a way to attract the very worst clientele from a wide area! The De Valence belongs to the people of Tenby, and has cost us dear over many years. Is this how, what could very well, with some imagination, be a major asset, is to be marketed? Do the town council condone this type of advertisement? According to the advert, this trust is funded from our Council Tax. Presumably they are aware what is being done in their name? I note that 'the Trust has employed a new team to manage this project' - goodness me, what a good start! Is this the very best they can manage?
Michael Williams, Pembs. County Councillor,
