Sir,
For the past two years after my cousin has been to stay with me and returned home, she has written to the Tenby Observer to share her disappointment at the state of the North Beach in Tenby.
Having just started to take my dog back on the North Beach for his walk, I was really taken aback at how much worse it has got. If this is what visitors have been seeing, I would be very surprised if they would want to come back.
From the bottom of the dilapidated cafe steps to the long steps leading up to the Croft there is vegetation taking over the top of the sands. Visitors used to sit with their backs to the wall, but they wouldn't want to do that at the moment.
May I respectfully suggest that now would be a good time of year to start addressing this problem ready for the influx of visitors for the Boxing Day Swim.
I thought that the boat park above the North Walk was originally built to accommodate visiting yachts taking part in the Sailing Club Regatta week, but it seems to have become a permanent overflow park and somewhere to abandon boats that will disappear under the overgrown vegetation.
The rubbish at the Goscar end of the North Walk has been there at least two years and has now been joined all summer by a digger which looks like it's been battened down to stay there for the winter. Who does it belong to and why has it been there in such a pictureque spot for so long and how can the owners afford for it to be rusting and not earning its' keep?
Also today there were three yachts parked on the North Walk itself right by the digger.
Please, please, please can I ask again. Can something be done about this area? The longer it's left, the worse it will get and the more expensive it will be to put right.
Alyson Bush,
Tenby.
