Norchard Gardens in Manorbier, one of Pembrokeshire’s most enchanting private gardens, will open to the public this weekend under the National Garden Scheme.
Nestled around a medieval hall alongside a mill pond teaming with wildlife and sheltered by ancient oak woodland, Norchard offers a unique blend of structured formality and informal plantings that showcase summer at its very best.
Visitors can stroll through a beautifully restored Elizabethan courtyard garden and a walled ornamental kitchen garden.
Winding paths through an historic orchard of heritage fruit trees and a young arboretum framed by distant countryside views bring a sense of peace and tranquillity. Roses will be flourishing in June — with climbers such as the glorious Rambling Rector adorning the crenellated entrance to the Elizabethan garden and scents rising on warm summer air.
Delicious teas, coffees and cakes will be served throughout the afternoon. Tickets are priced adults £8.00, children free, and pre-booking via the NGS website is advisable to avoid disappointment.

“June is a truly magical time at Norchard,” said the garden’s owner, “with roses at their peak, and beds full of summer colour. Our hope is that visitors leave inspired to enjoy more of Pembrokeshire’s wonderful horticultural offerings whilst simultaneously supporting the extremely worthy nursing and health charities chosen by the NGS. Last year they raised nearly £3.9 million, all off the back of people being able to access some of our Nation’s most wonderful and secret gardens.”
The event will take place on Sunday, June 7 between 1 and 5pm, at Norchard Gardens, The Ridgeway, Manorbier, SA70 8LD.
Pre-booking is available through www.ngs.org.uk
