Public benches along Tenby’s South Parade are not set to be a moving target for pigeons.
Town councillor Mrs. Caroline Thomas recently asked for a ‘revamp’ of some of Tenby’s public seating areas, explaining that some of the resort’s gardens contained ‘unused seating’ that was in very good condition, whilst other more used gardens had seating that was in a ‘terrible’ condition.
She also told her fellow councillors that there had been complaints about the benches along the South Parade from people who would like to sit there, but couldn’t because of the pigeon mess, and had suggested that the seats could be shuffled around and moved forward a few inches, to stop the pigeons from targeting them from the town walls.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, the town clerk told members that Pembrokeshire County Council were not ‘enamoured’ with the idea of moving the South Parade seats, as they didn’t want people getting behind the bases and removing the benches.
Clr. Mrs. Thomas asked if they could contact Tenby Civic Society to liaise with them on moving seating around in other areas of the town, before the end of the winter period.
