Hank Wangford and Reg Meuross are two of the finest singer/songwriters of Country music in the UK. A few years ago they played sell-out shows as The Lost Cowboys at the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, and the Queen's Hall, Narberth. But this is the first time the pair have toured together as a duo on their 'No Hall Too Small' tour and one of their stopping off points later this month will be St. Patrick's Community Hall, Pennar, Pembroke Dock. It promises to be a folky and intimate show consisting partly of original songs and partly of duets taken from the rich vein of songs produced in America between the 1930s and 1950s by brother acts such as The Everly Brothers and The Louvin Brothers. Foot-tapping and tear-jerking, the songs deal with anything from religion to class prejudice, plus the inevitable cheatin', drinkin' and divorce. But, as always with Hank, the show also contains plenty of humour, with his 'you don't have to make it up' look at life. He believes it is possible to cry and dance at the same time! Top British film director Mike Leigh was so moved by a Hank and Reg show that he wrote it was 'an emotional rollercoaster ride. From the honkytonkin' heart-broken songs of rural America via the British miner's strike, right up to the present day and beautifully crafted original songs full of class, wit and poignant observations... it's a privilege to be present on nights like these'. Now you can share that privilege by getting along to St. Patrick's Hall, Pennar, on Friday, June 29, at 7.30 pm. Ring the Hank Hotline on 01646 621811 to buy tickets at only £5 each. Please note, tickets are selling fast and none will be available on the door on the night. Support act will be local heroes the Two Bit Band. Think you don't like Country? Let these good ol' boys convert you! They've got a great taste in shirts too.
