The No Name Yet Young Performers Group has a name!

Following a successful launch day and initial six-week programme, the youth theatre has become the South Pembrokeshire Young Performers (SPYP). The group also have a bright new logo to complement the new name.

The group offers drama education classes to pupils in school Year 3 and above and is led by Gary Tapley, a trained actor who moved back to South Pembrokeshire five years ago.

Gary has previously worked with the De Valance Youth Theatre and staged the successful Wizard of Oz production as well as Tenby's Got Talent where he developed the successful finalists' performances.

The emphasis of the classes is firmly on drama education - eventually giving the attendees the skills to perform any type of drama asked of them. It's very much 'back to basics', there is no expectation that pupils will already know how to perform, all we ask for is a desire to perform and a willingness to learn.

SPYP are holding a drama workshop on August 20 at Saundersfoot CP School. The sessions will be from 10 am - 12 noon for school Years 3-6, and from 1-3 pm for school Years 7 and above.

This is a great opportunity to see what the group is all about, have a go at drama, make new friends and have some fun!

Classes will begin again on Wednesday, September 14, at Saundersfoot CP School and will continue during term time.

Anyone interested in the workshop or going along in September is asked to contact Kay on 07800871833 or email [email protected]">[email protected] or you can contact them via the website at http://www.SPYP.co.uk">www.SPYP.co.uk.

This is a very exciting time for SPYP and they look forward to welcoming new and existing members to what they hope will be a very productive year!
