NFU Cymru members in Pembrokeshire are invited to an on-farm dairy meeting.

At the meeting, which will be held at Sychpant, Rhos-Hill, Cardigan, SA43 3DJ, on Wednesday, July 5 by kind permission of the Allison family, members will be given a short tour of the farm where Marc and Lucy Allison will explain their farming system.

Members will also be joined by NFU Cymru Deputy President Abi Reader and NFU Cymru Dairy Board Chairman, Jonathan Wilkinson, who will provide an update on what is currently happening in the dairy sector and will discuss NFU Cymru’s lobbying work on behalf of members.

NFU Cymru Pembrokeshire County Chairman Simon Davies said: “I must thank the Allison family for agreeing to host our next meeting.

“They manage a 300-cow dairy herd on 520 acres at Sychpant on an autumn calving system.

“The farm is predominantly grassland with 80 acres of cereals, 50 acres of maize and 10 acres of fodder beet grown on the farm. Investment in a high-quality cow barn and associated slurry handling and storage facilities resulted in the farm winning the 2019 Royal Welsh Agricultural Society’s Farm Buildings and Works Competition.

“I must also thank Abi Reader and Jonathan Wilkinson for agreeing to join us and look forward to hearing from them. All members are welcome, with tea, coffee and light refreshments available and I look forward to seeing you there.”

Anyone wishing to attend the meeting is asked to register beforehand by contacting the NFU Cymru office on 01982 554200.
