THE current chairman of Wales Young Farmers Clubs, Dylan Jones, of Eisteddfa, Nantgaredig, Carmarthen, is the newly-appointed assistant group secretary at the St. Clears office of the National Farmers Union.
Aged 28, Dylan is a farmer's son, the eldest of four, and grew up on a dairy farm and now, with his wife, Louise, keeps a flock of pedigree Texel sheep.
He gained a BSc honours degree in animal science at Aberystwyth University and won the Dr. Richard Phillips award at the 2006 Royal Welsh Show for the best student graduating from an agriculturally related course in Wales.
With a keen interest in livestock, Dylan has been showing sheep and cattle for a number of years in local and national shows. He has previously worked for BOCM Pauls covering North Carmarthenshire/South Ceredigion as an account manager and also national roles with Welsh Meat Promotions (knowledge transfer officer) and the Dairy Development Centre (dairy health events officer).
Dylan said: "This is an exciting time in my career and I am very much looking forward to working for the NFU."
