Neyland Ladies decided to donate the proceeds to Paul Sartori Hospice at Home because of the wonderful work they do locally in providing free specialised, supportive care and advice for those in the later stages of any life-limiting illness.
This concert was the culmination of the choir’s 40th anniversary celebrations and was a sell-out. The choir entertained their audience by singing some of their favourite songs from the last 40 years, some much-loved Christmas carols and finished with a variety of well-known Christmas songs, with the audience being invited to sing along.
The concert was compered by the wonderful Brian Jobson and the choir were joined by a group from Milford Haven Town Band and also guitars and drums. Ex member Glesni Edwards sang O Holy Night with the choir and then sang Once in Royal David’s City as a solo.
The choir’s president, Clr. Dr. Simon Hancock, Mayor of Neyland, opened the concert and also read a poem during the evening.
The choir started the year by aiming to sing to as many people as possible and to help raise as much money for charity as possible during the anniversary year. They have been all over the county singing in Haverfordwest, Saundersfoot, Tenby, Walwyn’s Castle, Milford Haven and Neyland, to mention just a few places. They have sung to over 200 people and also to as few as 50, but each time the ladies have given their best. They have shared the stage with other choirs, including Les Voix de Losa from Neyland’s twin town of Sanguinet in France and local male voice choirs.
All these concerts mean that Neyland Ladies Choir are proud to confirm that they have raised over £4,000 during this year.
