Fusion Reading Exploding at Greenhill

Greenhill's Year 9 Literacy Leaders gave a fizzing introduction to our 'Fusion Reading' and thinking strategies for students, teachers and parents. Amelia Vickery, Jessica Griffiths, Will Lewis and Dominic Belli gave an introduction to fusion reading introducing an analysis of a Sex Pistols song and a bottle of Coke and Mentos!

Learning Literacy and Numeracy

This term at Greenhill we have already had two writing competitions. Our first competition celebrated Roald Dahl Day with a 'Dream' theme and from over 200 entries the winners were: Sam Feranil, Lara Duffy, Emma Barley, Jessica Hillier, Tegan Davis, Kacey Keane, Victoria Campbell, Kaylee Lowe, Holly Thomas and Holly Bartlett.

To celebrate World Poetry Day, we had a competition based on the theme of water. We have 10 winners so far, but more entries are still coming daily! Winners so far are: Jasmine Stubbs, Frankie James, Jess Hillier, Max Richards, Rhys Grigg, Laura Brown, Owen Evans, Charlie Fry, Ollie Brown and Tia Lynwood.

The standard of the writing has been high which may be due to the introduction of our cross curricular 'Writing Cycle' system that is helping all students to be creative and accurate in their writing.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Anna DeVall and Louis Elston as they have been chosen as this year's presidents and will also sit on the school council.

Also further congratulations to Molly Lewis as she has been chosen as Pembrokeshire's Gold Young Ambassador

FOG - Friends of Greenhill

Who are we?

We are a small group of dedicated parents who spend a couple of hours a month fundraising for the school. It's fun, informal and very rewarding.

a thank you

FOG would like to thank the many local businesses for their continued support and generosity in donating prizes for our tombola stall. We had a stall at four out of the five Summer Spectaculars and we raised the fantastic sum of £713.80. All money raised goes directly towards our Big Project.

the big project

Our Big Project this year is the development and building of a large outdoor seated picnic area.

unwanted uniform

We run a very successful second hand uniform shop at Greenhill and would be grateful for donations of any uniform that you no longer need. Just drop it into reception.

and finally . . .

We meet in the staff room at Greenhill every second Monday of the month during term time at 6.30 pm. If you have a child at the school and can spare a few hours a month, why not come along and see what we are all about, we would love to see you.

For further information on any of the above, please contact Tracey Evans, FOG secretary, c/o Greenhill School. Tel: 01834 840100.
