Operation Christmas Child: For many Greenhill students, Christmas preparations have already began as over 150 shoeboxes have been very generously put together for children who live in countries much poorer than our own. Great care, thought and attention was given to the task. Many students brought in one that they had put together completely on their own, while other groups of friends collected and bought little gifts. There was a fantastic effort from two forms in particular, 7E and 7G excelled by producing 40 boxes between them! Special thanks go to Jordan Hart who donated seven boxes! Members of Year 12, Chanelle, Sam, Harrison, Emily, Alex, Ebony, Lana-Marie, Angharad, Lucy and Year 11, Ivan and Scarlett, gave presentations in assemblies showing us the very happy and smiley faces of some of the children who received the boxes last year. Lewis and Ashley also helped organise and nothing would have happened without Bethan Rogers (deputy head girl). Many, many thanks to all those who helped in some way and to those who wrapped, wrapped and wrapped in the final flurry before the boxes were sent off. Huge thanks to Karl and Josh at Shoezone.

A MIDSUMMER

NIGHT'S DREAM

On Wednesday, October 24, students from Ysgol Greenhill School performed a 30 minute version of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven as part of the Schools Shakespeare Festival.

This ambitious project was directed by Tom Stewart-Walvin, of Year 13, ably assisted by teachers from the school.

Greenhill embraced the madness of the play, where many mistakes are made and corrected, taking the audience through an enchanted forest which saw lovers quarrel and be reconciled.

During all this, the incompetent mechanicals rehearse and perform their play to the gentry of Athens, and the perfectly timed comic performances of these characters had the audience of all ages rolling in their seats with laughter.

HOMEWORK CLUB - OUT OF HOURS LEARNING

This is held very Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3.30 - 4.30, with homework support, subject catch-up, use of IT facilities, clubs and activities. POLICE VISIT

Three Greenhill pupils had a fantastic visit to the Dyfed Powys Police headquarters in Carmarthen recently. The girls had the opportunity to spend the day touring the headquarters, with lunch in the canteen and to help with the new Community Police Support Officer training day, by volunteering to be protesters in a mock badger cull.

Pupils were: Naomi Price, Sadie Wall and Ashton Probert, accompanied by Mrs. Cath Liddell, learning coach/traveller support.

Mrs. Thomas I really enjoy being in your class and having you as a teacher - diolch yn fawr."
