Bringing Christmas cheer throughout the county, the brass quartet played at Park House Nursing Home last Friday.

In a packed reception room, the residents enjoyed all the old favourites, with sing-a-long sheet provided them with ample opportunity to be involved.

The boys, Sam Benbow, Wesley Davies, Corey Morris, Tom Prestwich and Fred Smith, along with their peripatetic teacher Mr. Colin Barrett have also played at various venues around the county on the weekends. They will be playing at the Giltar Hotel on Christmas Eve at 6 pm.

FOG

Friends of Greenhill need your help!

The main aim of FOG is to do all that they can to improve the students whole school experience by working in many ways to support all students, staff and parents of the school - it's about making a difference.

At the end of this year, they will be losing some of the stalwart members of the committee - (same as they did at the end of last year).

Numbers are becoming quite depleted; they need new members, to bring fresh ideas and interests to the group. They have been a very active group over the last few years fundraising and purchasing a wide variety of goods and services for Greenhill School - they would like to see this continue.

They aim to involve the whole community in their ventures and if you have time, they would love to make use of your talents in a way that will benefit the school.

Go along to the next meeting on Wednesday, January 10, 7 pm, in Greenhill School. Make a new year resolution to join!

FILM CLUB

It's nearly Christmas and we need to fuel ourselves with carols and movies in order to gain some 'Christmas cheer'.

So film club decided to show the acclaimed movie 'Elf'. This is a heartwarming tale about Buddy, a human adopted by elves, who decides he can no longer live in the North Pole and treks to New York in order to find his biological father.

With over the top Christmas decorating, worldwide carol singing and an insight into how elves live and make toys, 'Elf' was definitely the kindle to start the Christmas fire in film club-goers.

It is nice to see an honest, original take on the now worn-out Christmas movie scene, especially one with messages about making time for family and the importance of friendship. This is a movie that people should watch over the Christmas holiday.

For more information about the film club, see Mr. Jones (art) or Mr. Cunliffe (geography).

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Max Randles, of Year 13, who recently successfully passed his flight aptitude test (at RAF Cranwell), a highly selective assessment and an important step in Max's chosen career path to fly for the Royal Navy. He hopes to join the Britannia Royal Naval College in the autumn. Max has also been nominated by the Marine Society and Sea Cadet Corps for the National Cadet of the Year Award. If successful, this could lead to him acting as ambassador for the MSSC on a three-week, all expenses paid trip to South Africa in 2012.
