NEW-BUILD/ REFURBISHMENTS
Our major development of improvements are beginning to take shape. The new block is now up and the roof is almost fully completed. Most internal wall structures are complete and the new lift and courtyard work is well underway. Staff from the departments involved have been invited to tour their new classrooms. Work has commenced on the IT suites, with rooms being knocked down and rebuilt. The toilets and new disabled toilet in the music corridor are almost complete, with the tiling and furnishings to a very high standard. Remedial work continues on the Marsh Road facia, giving the school a facelift, and the landscaping and tree-planting undertaken along the fence gives a very pleasing aspect when driving into the car park. Further developments are now underway, with new windows in the library, which is now closed and sadly will not re-open until the new academic year, but will be completely renovated with new ceiling and flooring, new lighting, re-painting and repositioning of furniture. This should create an excellent resource for the school when we return. Work will soon commence on the English corridor. This has been blocked off this week, and with the onset of exams and Year 11 and Sixth Formers no longer attending classes, it gives the contractors access to these rooms. Students in the lower years will have some small room changes to contend with, but disruption will be kept to a minimum. With the continuing work over the summer holidays, we will see most ground floor areas, including the main corridor, fully refurbished by September. When the students return, it will look and feel like new and with last year's science labs up-grade and the implementation of white boards throughout the school, hopefully they will enjoy and benefit from their new environment. The contractors continue to work very closely with the school to ensure the building work causes the minimum of disturbance during day-to-day activities and the learning environment for students is maintained to our usual high standards. If you would like further information on our school improvements, please contact us at Greenhill School reception.
