The Greenhill Eisteddfod can be said to partly have been a resounding success. Due to the efforts of the staff, but mostly to the exceptionally high quality of the participants, guided skilfully through the day by the imitable Mr. Matt Davies, surely destined for stardom. Not simply to promote our National Day, but also to encourage and develop latent talent within the school.

COMMUNITY POLICING SCHOOLS QUIZ

Thursday, February 22, saw the first ever 'Community Policing Schools Quiz'. Nine senior schools attended the event at Sir Thomas Picton, in Haverfordwest. Great fun was had by all, as the students answered a number of questions during rounds that included: General Knowledge, Drugs Awareness, Safety and Security. The Greenhill team (which included Henry Whittaker, Jessica Clarke, Tom Griffith and team captain Amelia Owen), did not make it to the regional final, but represented the school very well. Mr. Williams, Greenhill's community, citizenship manager, said that he was very pleased with the team's efforts and hoped that the competition would become an annual event. He also thanked the students' parents for their support.

ANNUAL QUIZ

Last Friday, we had our Annual Quiz Night at Tenby Sailing Club. Ten teams battled over 10 rounds. Feedback tells me the questions were hard, but the scores prove it was a close fought encounter, but all teams thoroughly enjoyed the evening and are ready to take up the challenge again next year. The overall winners were TSC (Tenby Sailing Club) with a score of 147 points. A big 'thank you' to Tenby Sailing Club for allowing us the use of their premises, to Rosemary Tippet- Maudsley for doing an excellent job as quiz mistress and thank you to everyone who donated a raffle prize. Without the support of all involved, organisers, teams, helpers - we would not have raised such a huge amount. The final sum collected was £200. Very well done! And thank you to everyone concerned.

Race Night

On Saturday, a Race Night was held at Kilgetty Sports and Social Club in aid of the Greenhill Under17s' South Africa rugby tour this coming summer. The night was extremely well organised by Mikey Marsh, of Kilgetty, and well supported by the families of the boys touring and the club's regular patrons. The event raised a staggering £1,053! Thank you to the club for the excellent venue and also to the generosity of our eight race sponsors who were: The Carew Inn, Hackett Farm, Tenby Auto Centre, G. H. Evans and Co, Auctioneers, Land Agents and Valuers, East Trewent Holiday Park, Mike Fry, Ian Griffiths, of The Captains Table, Saundersfoot, and Super Guard Car Protection Products Yan Morris. The commitment of everyone involved in the tour is now in full swing. If you know of anyone interested in sponsoring the boys, please contact Matthew Davies at Greenhill School.
