Students wore Welsh jerseys and took part in numerous activities throughout the day. A special St. David's Day assembly was held for Years 7 and 8, compered by Mrs. Heather Henry. The pupils enjoyed a feast of music from school bands, Jam Tarts and Leap Year. Carys Bromby played a piece on the piano, as did Steffan Ciccotti. Sixth formers Gill Roberts and Llinos Davies gave a poetry reading of what it means to be Welsh.

Staff enjoyed tea and Welsh cakes during morning break, while the students had the choice of a Welsh menu catered by the canteen staff. Thank you to everyone who helped organise the day's events.

Jesus Christ Superstar!

What a production! Words are hard to find to describe the sheer exaltation on the faces of all concerned with this musical, not just the cast, orchestra and stage assistants, but entire audiences. The standard of acting, singing and professionalism was extremely moving, culminating in the final tear-jerking scene with its realistic portrayal of the crucifixion.

It was totally impossible to single out any member of the cast - without exception, they were all brilliant!

The school would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this production, too numerous to list, but you know who you are - 'thank you'. Congratulations to you all !

Media Studies students Emma Griffiths and Abi Marriott write:

The long-awaited performances of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' arrived at Greenhill School last week. All the hard work at rehearsals finally paid off as the cast, orchestra and helpers got ready to give the performance of a lifetime to a packed school hall every night.

There was hardly a dry eye in the house as the audience told members of the cast how they were emotionally moved by the Crucifixion and how exhilarating and dramatic the other scenes had been. One member of the audience said: "It came very close to the performance of Jesus Christ Superstar I saw in London a few years back."

Mr. Rapi took time out from celebrating its success to tell us: "I am very pleased with all the performances and I am very proud of the cast and orchestra who performed to such a high standard on all four nights of the performances."

Anna Liddell and Emily Boot were helpers backstage, so we asked them what the atmosphere was like as the performers were getting ready to perform in front of a large and excited audience.

"Everybody was nervous before the first performance, but as they settled into character everyone calmed down and enjoyed performing immensely."

Despite the inclement weather on Friday evening, members of the cast, orchestra and parents enjoyed the after-show party which took place at Tenby Rugby Club. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the success of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and can't wait for the next production.
