CHARITY CHEQUE

On January 20, Mr. Noble presented a cheque for £679 to Mrs. S. Hunt, the representative from the NSPCC. This was the amount raised by students in Years 7-10 on Number Day.

In a letter of thanks, Denise Derbyshire said: "Your efforts are very much appreciated and we hope that you will continue to support the NSPCC and our aims."

Miss Rotchford, who organised the event in school, also thanks all students who participated and she hopes that they enjoyed the maths activities.

HOCKEY

On January 23, the Year 9 hockey team played Tasker-Milward. They knew it would be one of their hardest games as Taskers had not been beaten for at least two years. Greenhill entered the match determined to play their best.

Taskers had the first centre pass, but Greenhill were straight in tackling. Both sides had many chances, but the Greenhill defence played well and got the ball out of the 'D'.

Towards the end of the first half, the ball was passed to Alex Merchant, centre forward, and she made the winning shot, with the help of the keeper's foot!

The second half saw Taskers attack more, but Greenhill managed to keep the final score to 1-0.

Team: Alex Merchant, Chantelle Tovey, Liz Nicholas, Annie Davies (capt), Zoe Hurlow, Charlie Ratcliffe, Sophie Toy, Rachel Mathias, Kayleigh Davies, Rachel Lord and Siobhan Cooke.

Well done girls!

On January 29, the Year 8 hockey team played Milford. Milford won the first centre pass. Greenhill found out that Milford's midfield were strong and quick to get the ball down to score, but the Greenhill defence were strong, too, and soon got the ball to the forwards. Carys had a very near miss and so did Milford, but at half-time the score was still 0-0.

The second half saw Greenhill come back even stronger and with the help of four short corners nearly made it 4-0, but the game ended on 0-0.

Player of the match was Siobhan Cooke.

Team: Carys Bromby, Sita Thomas, Rhian Lewis, Siobhan Cooke, Angelina Briers, Katy Owen (capt), Emily Ruff, Jenna Wright, Tiffany Roach, Robyn Cooke, Ann-Marie Dassen, Rachel Lord.

Better luck next time girls !
