HARVEST FESTIVAL
Students in Year 7 recently took part in a special 'Celebration of Harvest' assembly. They all performed brilliantly, and deserve special praise for their efforts. In the picture above are: Mrs. Henry, head of Year 7, Carys Bromby, Lara Evans, Jenna Jackson, Katy John, Sarah Jones, Lucy Liddell, Ann-Marie Dassen, Sita Thomas, Jenny Hall, Dickon Morris and Matthew Watkins.
A total of £106 was raised, which the pupils decided to donate to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Mrs. Eva Rich, with her special friend, Black Labrador Angie, came into school to accept the cheque on behalf of the association during a special Year 7 assembly.
Whilst in school, she explained why guide dogs are so important, how they are trained, and how they can allow a blind person to lead as normal a life as possible. Angie behaved herself brilliantly, and made many new friends !

GIRLS' SPORT
All these games were played away to Tasker Milward School, Haverfordwest on Thursday, November 22.
HOCKEY
Year 8 v Tasker Milward School: In the first half of this exciting game, a fantastic goal was scored by Annie Davies who saw her chance and took it! Despite everybody's best efforts to retain the lead, Taskers defeated us by scoring two goals in quick succession in the second-half. Taskers were one of our hardest opponents so far, and everyone tried to win back another goal to draw the score, but time ran out on us! The final whistle went with the score 2-1 to Taskers. A brilliant game was played by all.
NETBALL
Year 7 v Tasker Milward School: Our game began well, with Rebecca Nicholas scoring a goal, with Sarah Davies scoring another. Amy Lloyd and Hannah Butler found it difficult to mark their tall opponents, but played really well despite Taskers height advantage! Katy Owen and the opponents' centre flew around the court as Taskers' goals were going in.
Unfortunately for us, just after Angelina Briers secured possession of the ball, the whistle blew and the game was finished. Taskers were the winners, the final score being 14-2. Well done.
Our team comprised Katy as captain, Amy as wing attack, Rebecca as goal shooter, Hannah as wing defence, Angelina as goal defence, Sarah Davies as goal attack and Alex Powell as goal-keeper.
Year 9 v Tasker Milward School: In this away game, Taskers played really well, but not as well as Greenhill, winning the contest 12-1 (writes Rebecca Simpson). Scorers were Gaby Herrick, who scored three goals, and Rebecca Simpson, who successfully shot seven goals through the net.
The team comprised: Gabriella, Rebecca, Amy John, Chloe Laing, Phoebe Osborne, Elizabeth Roberts and Laura Griffiths. Elizabeth was voted 'Player of the Match'.
Year 10 v Tasker Milward School: Deborah Nicholas, Freya Rowlands, Jess Ormonde, Jemma Owen, Gillian Sadler, Anna Liddell, Nina Parker, Katie Thomas represented Greenhill's Year 10 at netball, playing a very good first half, securing a 7-2 lead by half-time.
In the second half, they continued to play well, but Taskers raised their game to score another 10 goals, bringing the final score to 17-7 in their favour.
However, despite the defeat, Greenhill played really well and must be congratulated for their performance.

Greenhill v Sir Thomas Picton School, Haverfordwest, at home on Thursday, November 21:
Year 8 lost 5-0 in a very closely contested match. Bad luck, boys!
Year 9 played really well, continuing their dramatic improvement with a 12-12 draw against a team which has previously beaten them quite convincingly. Keep up the good work!
Year 10 played football against Sir Thomas Picton, and lost 3-1 against a very strong team.
BASKETBALL
On Thursday, November 22, Greenhill School played two matches against Ysgol y Preseli. This was the first game that either side had played as a combined team of Years 8 and 9.
Greenhill went into the lead by a basket from Louis Evans, followed by two quick baskets from Aran Torok, then one from Adam Morgan, with Edward Merriman completing the scoring for the first half.
The half-time score was 10-0 to Greenhill.
Theo Cowen opened the scoring for Greenhill in the second half, followed by Ollie Johnson. Mo Sofan then added two quick baskets, which were followed by baskets from Dan Colley, Edward Merriman and Daniel Griffiths.
The final score was 24-0 to Greenhill.
This was a good display by the whole team, many of whom were playing their first ever game.
The squad comprised: Adam Morgan, Edward Merriman, Dan Colley, Dan Griffiths, Aran Torok, Louis Evans, Sam Foster, Ollie Morgan, Robert Tuttle, Ollie Johnson, Adam Ball, Mo Sofan and Theo Cowan.
The second match involved a combined Year 9 and 10 team. The Greenhill team began well, with Andrew Morgan cutting the Preseli defence to ribbons, ending up with 10 points for the first half. Adam Ball dominated the play and scored six points in the game. Other first half scorers were Mo Sofan and Ian Gower.
The half-time score was 18-2.
The second half was very much like the first, with the Greenhill team dominating. Sion Jenkins opened the scoring for Greenhill, followed by Bruce Tasker, who had hit the ring on numerous previous occasions. Dan Cope then scored after some great defensive play by the home side. This basket was followed by three more, one each from Ian Gower, Adam Ball and Cope again.
The final score was 30-6.
This was another good display by the Greenhill team, who gelled exceptionally well together.
The squad comprised: Andrew Morgan, Adam Ball, Ian Gower, Lewis Hurlow, Sion Jenkins, Bruce Tasker, Dan Cope, Mo Sofan, Gareth Otton and Jason Llama.
SENIOR YOUTH SPEAKS
The Rotary Club of Saundersfoot recently hosted the second round of Youth Speaks with the senior competition at the St. Bride's Hotel, Saundersfoot. This is a traditional public speaking event where teams of students from Netherwood and Greenhill compete with one another.
The topics ranged from 'Pembrokeshire is a graveyard for its youth and their ambition' to 'Equality is a vision of the future' and 'Is fast food the best thing since battered sausage ?' All were debated well, with the students providing many stimulating ideas for discussion throughout the evening.
The winning team from Greenhill debated the topic 'Today's youth are abandoning their forefathers' language and inventing a ridiculous 'off-the-wall' jargon of their own...dude!'
Sophie Evans officiated as chairperson, with Hannah Morgan as proposer and Kate Lamb as opposer. Kate was also awarded the best opposer of the evening, and Hannah was awarded best overall speaker.
A further award was made to Naomi Davidson from Netherwood for best chairman.
Pictured are the Greenhill winning team with Roger Schofield, deputy headteacher, and Lynn Ashfield, Rotary president. Also in the second photo: Kate Lamb, Naomi Davidson and Hannah Morgan.
