LOWER SCHOOL DRAMA COMPETITION
This long-awaited day has arrived for many budding thespians at Greenhill School who have been busily rehearsing for the popular Drama Competition, which takes place today.
The winners of the competition will then embark on visits to local primary schools to perform their successful play.
CREATIVE ARTS DEPARTMENT
Concert at the De Valence: Supporters of Greenhill School have been busy helping Mr. Rapi organise a concert, to include the Orchestra and Jazz Band and feature Tenby Male Choir. The De Valence Pavilion has been booked for Friday, June 29, at 8 pm.
Tickets are available for the Creative Arts Department, Dales Music Shop and members of SOGO, and cost £4 (£3 for concessions). If you wish to buy your tickets on the door, they will be slightly dearer at £5 (£4 for concessions).
The promise of a pleasant evening's entertainment awaits.
Chamber Orchestra visit to San Francisco: There is only one last chance to hear the Chamber Orchestra play their programme before their impending visit to San Francisco - at St. Mary's Church on Monday, July 2, at 8 pm. Share in Mozart's music and listen to the orchestra's fine interpretation of it, ambassadors worthy of the musical talent in Tenby. Come and hear for yourself.
CRICKET TOUR
Talented cricketers: Year 8 students Stephen Handicott and Adam Hughes recently played for the West Wales Under 13s cricket squad on a mini-tour to Coventry and again at Haverfordwest on Wednesday, June 20. We are delighted to support their success, and will watch their progress with pride.
PTA BARBECUE
The PTA's barbecue and social evening has been organised for Friday, July 6, at Tenby Sailing Club, starting at 7.30 pm. As well as the barbecue, there will also be live music. Tickets cost £4 per person, and can be obtained by ringing either the school or the following number, 01646 651293. It is sure to be a great evening, and everyone is very welcome to attend, so please come along if you can.
LIBRARY COMPETITION
Students were invited to enter a competition to devise a new reading challenge, to follow in the recent Reading Olympics and Reading Rollercoaster challenges. Many students in Years 7, 8 and 9 entered, but the winning entry was that of Charles Goldwait and Tom Edwards, both of Year 8.
They created 'Around the world in six months', where readers travel the world through 12 main cities. For example: at the London stop, readers would need to read a play; at Rome, readers would need to read a historical book, and so on. Six cities have to be read, and the last six are free choices of cities, and categories! They each win a day ticket to Heatherton.
200 CLUB CHANGES
The PTA committee meeting this month discussed the arrangements of the 200 Club and decided to change the start date of this year's club from March to September, to bring the club into line with the school year. This means this year's club will now finish in August 2002 and not March.
The committee agreed to increase the cost of each number to £12, the cost having remained unaltered for over four years.
Existing club members will not face any increase in the costs until their current subscription expires, in August 2002. Renewals in September 2002 will be at £12 per number.
If existing members wish to discuss this change or cancel their current subscription, please contact Phil Bromby, Green Tree House, Serpentine Road, Tenby, tel. 842469.
