Future chef 2004

Congratulations are extended to Geraint Evans, Year 9, who recently took part in the local heat of the prestigious competition Future Chef 2004.

Although not lucky enough to be placed in first position, Geraint's tasty meal of chicken in plum and ginger sauce, followed by blackberry cream tarts - a meal for two people, costing under £5 and prepared in no more than one-and-a-half hours - was highly commended.

We are sure to see much more of Geraint in the future.

Watch out, Jamie Oliver!

Special assembly

The Gideon Society attended a special assembly for Year 7 students recently. Each student was presented with a copy of the New Testament by a member of the Gideon Society.

Opportunities 2003

Year 11 students travelled to the Withybush Showground, Haverfordwest, to the Opportunities 2003 Careers Convention recently.

The trip, organised by Mr. Chris Skone, head of Middle School, proved to be very informative and of great use to the students as they begin to think about their post-16 options - AS/A Levels, vocational courses, a trade, school, college, work.

On hand to help were a vast range of businesses and colleges who could offer the students detailed advice and information.

Careers - Year 9

Aim Higher Wales visited Dyffryn Taf recently. All students in Year 9 were able to visit the mobile workshop, and pictured are students from 9G waiting for their turn.

Students were informed about higher education opportunities and were introduced to the Aim Higher Wales website.

It proved to be an interesting and valuable day for all.
