Ambassadors trip to Margam Orangery
Wednesday, May 16, young ambassadors from various other schools, including Whitland Primary School, visited Margam Orangery, Port Talbot, to meet the Children's Commissioner for Wales, Keith Towler, and to take part in various activities such as having fun on a bouncy castle, playing parachute games, making cakes and discussing about what was the best thing about becoming an ambassador and what things could have been better.
When we went to Margam Orangery, we were introduced to all of Keith's helpers before we were all introduced to Keith Towler himself. Once again, we then were split up into groups and Jessica and Daniel (the young ambassadors for Whitland Primary School)were put in the yellow group with lots of other children from different schools. What we did was that we sat down on their red carpet and we asked Keith Towler a few questions (while only giving him 60 seconds to answer!)
We then had the most delicious lunch ever made by the very talented cooks!
We also did a massive treasure hunt in order to win a goody bag.
We then returned home and told everyone how much fun we'd had.
Blooming marvellous!
Whitland Primary School have recently been lucky enough to receive a collection of plants, along with some planters and wooden benches, kindly discounted in price by local traders Ivydene Nursery and Davies Builders.
These kind gestures are particularly appreciated at a time when we are working to refresh and enliven the school's grounds and natural environment as the summer approaches.
All of our pupils, teachers and, of course, our beloved lollipop man were on board in planting the plants and flowers around the school, whilst taking pride in our work and nurturing the children's budding green fingers.
We hope you will enjoy the changes made, and we would like to thank Ivydene Nursery and Davies Builders for their support.
Further improvements will be undertaken within the school garden as and when the weather allows!
