TEXACO VISIT
As a link with industry, the staff at Tenby Infants School enjoyed a very interesting visit to Chevron Texaco, Angle, on June 6 Warmly welcomed by Mr. Des King and Mr. Phil Thompson, they were given a comprehensive tour of the site, learning about the function of the refinery and its workforce. After a lovely lunch, the day was completed by a visit to Pwllcrochan Church, which can be used as an educational experience for visiting schools. A great day was had by all.
COMPETITION SUCCESS
After entering a competition with Pembrokeshire LEA, Tenby Infants won a digital camera and were awarded a certificate for the best set of KSI and EY's playground games. Pictured with some of the pupils are Gill John (headteacher), Pauline Davies (maths advisor) and Janice Bateman (maths co- ordinator).
LEAVERS' SERVICE
On July 19, the Leavers' Service took place in the school hall where the audience were treated to a glimpse of a Victorian school scene, a present day school and the school of the future, all beautifully enacted by Year 2 pupils. The choir entertained the audience, accompanied by the confident recorder playing. At the end of the service, Canon David Jenkins was presented with a gift, from the school, of a lovely leather executive chair, to mark his 40 years of service in the church. He was also presented with a cake from all the children. An enjoyable time was had by all.
VIOLINISTS ENTERTAIN
Year 2 violinists entertained both the school and parents in a wonderful concert given at the end of term. Many thanks to Mrs. Thirkettle for all her hard work.
PLAYGROUP
In September 2004, Tenby Infants opened a playgroup known as TIPS (Tenby Infants Playgroup Sessions). We call it wrap around care, as it gives the choice for the part-timers in the nursery to stay all day. The playgroup room is situated in the main school. The children do lots of activities, including painting, drawing and sticking, together with joining in with the Under 5s and main school activities.
