With Tenby Junior School having a long history of environmental work, its current pupils and staff have been busy over the last few months developing the use of the school's nature area to aid with the teaching of the national curriculum.

Pupils have had a huge amount of input into the environmental project, coming up with various ideas for its development, which has been divided up into phases where pupils of the school's Eco Club have worked alongside parents.

Ideas that have already reached fruition include the nature area's pond, where Mr. Brace, one of the school governors, arranged for some players of Tenby Rugby Club to come along and dig up the pond area.

Showing tremendous team spirit, the players spent a whole morning tackling phase one of the project, getting stuck into some extreme digging, before heading off to play a match that afternoon.

The school wishes to thank all those involved with this phase of the nature area development, especially Tenby RFC for their time and effort, along with the governor and PTA for financial support, Mrs. McBeth and family for their magnificent fund- raising, and Mr. Squibbs for his weekly dedication to the Eco Club and pond project.

The school has also been working alongside the Prince's Trust in developing a dipping platform next to the pond and raised wooden board walks through the nature area.

Soon to follow as part of the development will be a roundhouse style outdoor classroom for the pupils, which N. D. Toy and Partners Ltd., Independent Financial Advisers and Mortgage Brokers, have kindly given a donation towards.

The school's Eco Club extends a warm welcome to any member of the local community who would like to get involved with the project or would just like to have a look around the nature area.
